2025 is the Year of the Snake in the Lunar calendar. Bright Press has collaborated with fellow Asian Australian artist Ophelia Roberts of Banksia Creative and we have created letterpress printed red envelopes (also known as hongbao or laisee) featuring a hand-drawn illustration of a snake surrounded by flowers and a decorative border. Red envelopes are normally filled with money and are given as a blessing to others. During Lunar New Year celebrations, red envelopes are given by senior married members of the family to younger and single members of the family. Red envelopes are also given by employers, managers, and bosses to their staff members.

If you are being gifted a red envelope, don't forget to wish the giver of the envelope "Gong Xi Fa Cai" (May you become rich and prosperous!).
